At Sanctuary our view of making disciples is first of all relational, next it is focused on helping the person become all that God desires them to be and that it is not static, as in one person taking on a follower. Rather, it is an alive and dynamic process that can involve multiple people on more than one topic at any given time. Jesus told his followers to go into all the world and make disciples(Matthew 28).
While disciple may not be a culturally relevant term we use in everyday life, it is a biblical term that simply means a learner. If you are a learner then there is a teacher and a process. For us this process involves the following steps and we believe it can be applied to any topic of being a follower of Jesus therefore it also translates into practical subjects within life itself. Here are the steps to making disciples:
While some have avoided the term because of abuses we do not see that scripture’s command gives permission to be heavy handed in our approach. Rather, we see it as an entirely voluntary and relational approach that can be a very powerful tool for effectively advancing the Kingdom of God. We’d love to have you join us on the journey!
